Hello and welcome to What’s Left?! where each week, I chat to someone interesting on the left about what that means to them (if anything). After my earlier conversations with champagne-for-everyone-communist Natasha Lennard and bin/man Jon Harvey, I’m this week catching up with an old friend, comedian Nish Kumar.

In other news, it’s very wintery here in London and I’m already sick of the turnips in my vegbox. Please wang any palatable turnip recipes my way, or failing that, ideas for swedes. Satirical comedy show, The Naked Week continues this Friday night at 6.30pm GMT on BBC Radio 4. And on Sunday, we’re taking my sweet mum to see the ABBA hollogram thingy in Stratford, so wish me luck with that!

British readers will already know Nish Kumar as a brilliant/booming stand-up comedian, TV presenter, and podcast host. He’s been on so many shows and platforms that it’s exhausting to try and list them all, but you can currently catch him on his stand-up tour and as the co-host of the political podcast, Pod Save the UK. We spoke on the phone in November 2024 while (as it turned out) he went on a little drive with his girlfriend.
